A failed section becomes useful only when it is converted into specific feedback. Start with what you remember from the exam, the score report categories, and your practice history. Then look for patterns. Did you consistently miss simulations? Did weak areas match topics you rushed? Did timed sets create errors that untimed sets did not?

Suppose Harborline CPA Lab reviews a failed REG attempt. The candidate felt comfortable with individual tax but weak on entity basis and business law. The next plan should not restart every topic equally. It should assign more time to basis calculations, property transactions, and rule-trigger questions while preserving individual tax with short cumulative sets.

Use a failure review sheet with four columns: topic, mistake type, cause, and fix. A cause might be "memorized rule but missed exception" or "did not identify taxpayer type." A fix might be "make comparison table" or "do 25 mixed questions every third day."
