Example: Summit Technology has three operating segments — Cloud, Hardware, Services. Within Cloud, there are two components: Public Cloud and Edge Computing. Both have discrete financials and separate management review, but they share similar economics and customers. They can be aggregated into one Cloud reporting unit. Meanwhile, Hardware contains Consumer Devices and Industrial Sensors with very different margins, growth rates, and customers — these are treated as two separate reporting units.
