At fictional Cedar Lane Manufacturing, a FAR simulation gives a lease agreement, payment schedule, discount rate, and partial journal entries. A candidate who only memorized definitions may freeze. A prepared candidate follows steps: identify lease classification, compute present value, record initial measurement, allocate interest and amortization, then check presentation.

Build a simulation notebook by workflow. Include lease accounting, bond amortization, bank reconciliation, statement of cash flows, adjusting entries, revenue recognition, and government fund reconciliations. For each workflow, write the first three things you do before touching numbers. That prevents exhibit overload.

Use multiple-choice to diagnose topics, but use simulations to practice integration. After each simulation, review not only the correct answer but also your process. Did you miss an exhibit? Did you answer before reading requirements? Did you know the rule but fail to structure the work?
